to
Birmingham Civil Rights Institute 520 16th St. N., Birmingham, Alabama
Through July 15, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Make It Happen Theatre Company has the exciting opportunity to collaborate with the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute for an innovative, educational, performing arts program that teaches civil rights history during a Summer Drama Day Camp. This program explores the importance of expression for today’s youth and the different ways one can communicate physically, verbally, musically and overall, artistically, to present important, historical stories through the performing arts. The program will culminate in a live performance, giving each student a voice to boost their confidence, which will inspire a lifetime of purpose-driven accomplishments. Students will perform the original play, "A. G. Gaston: The Man, the Mogul and His Mission", written by Alicia Johnson-Williams, under the direction of LaShanna R. Tripp, with choreography by Byron Bradley. $50 registration fee. For more information, call 530-3404.
