"PORTALS" exhibit

Hoover Library 200 Municipal Drive, City of Hoover, Alabama 35216
The fourteen mostly densely-layered gouache paintings on view (spanning a period of several years) are part deep-trance into the imaginal realm, part paint-weavings, part magical-workings.
Themes of the works include: consciousness, thought-forms, wetiko, the trickster, egoic death, meme magic, time cycles, the goddess, as well as other archetypal and cultural motifs, or "portals," that are apropos for these times.
Making patterns out of chaos, subverting order, and taking what is there and transforming it are all part of the process, and as a result of many evolutions of creating, destroying and rebuilding, openings for something new, and unexpected (if at first uncomfortable) emerge.
