Bottled water for flood victims in Iowa in 2008. The City of Birmingham will collect water and other items for flood victims in Southeast Texas.
The City of Birmingham wants to do its part to help the people in Houston and Southeast Texas affected by Hurricane Harvey and catastrophic flooding.
The city will collect items for victims from Wednesday, Aug. 30, through Saturday, Sept. 3, from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. each day, at the Boutwell Auditorium downtown, according to an announcement today from Mayor William Bell.
Texas authorities badly need canned goods, bottled water and cleaning supplies. In addition, canned pet food is needed for the many pets who are now displaced.
“Birmingham is a generous and kind city, and we know that everyone including myself wants to do whatever we can to help the storm victims,” Bell said in a news release.
“Any donation is welcome and appreciated,” Bell said.
