New apartment complex coming to Glen Iris neighborhood

A four-story, 259-unit apartment complex is coming to the Glen Iris neighborhood.

Iron and Oak Apartments are expected to break ground sometime in late 2021, with a planned opening set for the second quarter of 2023, said Brian Sudduth, development project manager with Rise: A Real Estate Company, which owns the property and is developing the complex.

The apartments will be located at 1110 Beacon Parkway East, and Sudduth said the company is excited to be part of the Birmingham community.

“It’s the culture of Birmingham, how it is continuing to grow and how the people who make up Birmingham … [are] people we’d want to be living next door to,” Sudduth said.

The complex will overlook Birmingham, and there will be connectivity to the Vulcan Trail, with access running straight through the community, Sudduth said.

Sudduth said Iron and Oak will feature “luxurious amenities,” including an outdoor pool, lounge area, fitness club and a dog park. A clubhouse will allow residents a place to work and conduct business, he said.

Sudduth said the company does have experience in Alabama and is looking at multiple communities in the state for possible expansion. The company has offices in Jacksonville, Florida. and Valdosta, Georgia.
