Women in Business: Jena Standard - LAH Real Estate

For Jena Standard, a realtor with LAH Real Estate, the relationship aspect of her work is the most important part of what she does.

“My first job at age 16 was at Parisian, and I’ve enjoyed working in customer service ever since,” she said.

She loves real estate itself, too. 

“Before I was in the business, I enjoyed helping friends and family shop for their homes, so getting my license seemed like a smart move,” Standard said. 

She had lived in the Crestwood area nearly all her life when two realtor friends introduced her to downtown living. 

“We fell in love with downtown,” Jena said. “It is such a diverse, close-knit community.”  Once a week, Jena and her husband get together with 20 to 30 neighbors for wine and dinner and often for plays, movies, concerts or dinner after work.  They also plan trips and travel together.

One of her favorite transactions happened when some dear friends and neighbors asked her to find them another place downtown.

“They loved the neighborhood but wanted a different type space,” Jena said. “I was able to find just the right one for them, but we needed to sell theirs first.” 

Turns out it made the perfect space for another friend of Jena’s who, after living in Mountain Brook for more than 30 years, finally decided to make the move downtown.

“It was such a happy day for all when we closed, and it makes my heart smile to know that they are all happy in their new spaces,” she said.

Her favorite part of the real estate transaction is after the sale, when her sellers are happy with her service and the buyers love their new home. She feels like a matchmaker when she finds just the right place for someone.

“As a play off of my name, I like for my clients to think of me as ‘not your STANDARD realtor,’” Jena said.
