Women in Business: LaBrenda Norman - L M Norman Law

When it comes to providing her clients with guidance, attorney LaBrenda Norman leans on her life experience as much as her legal expertise. 

After working in her family’s printing business for over 20 years and raising three children with her husband, Norman was approaching 49 years of age at the end of her youngest daughter’s freshman year of college. Embracing the new season of life, she continued working in the family’s printing business while attending Birmingham School of Law at night. 

Now well-established with her own practice, Norman thrives on using her legal abilities to improve the lives of others. 

Often described as ‘telling it like it is’, Norman employs a tough love approach with her clients. “I want to give them encouragement, but I have a duty to be honest with them and help them understand why they are at this place in life. My candor with them has led them to respect and trust me,” she said. 

In addition to serving as principal of L M Norman Law Office, Norman donates her time to the Birmingham Bar Volunteer Lawyers. She also volunteers her time with Faith Chapel Christian Center’s Homeless Center with three other attorneys, to offer legal advice once per month to clients that visit the center. 

“I am passionate about helping people see who they really are and what they can accomplish. I encourage people that don’t have a diploma to get their GEDs. I take the time to introduce my clients to resources they may not be familiar with. 

“God loves people, and I do, too. Therefore, I know that no matter what they may be facing today, there is still an opportunity for them to do better,” Norman said.
