What started as a small party to celebrate the anniversary of Slice Pizza & Brewhouse has grown into a full-scale destination event, and for its sixth year, Slicefest promises to be just as big.

On June 3, crowds will pack 28th Street in Lakeview to hear bands of all genres and styles. Acts on the main stage will include Manic Focus, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, Banditos, Ripe and Early James, with numerous other acts on the local stage.

The event will include activities for people of all ages and some for four-legged guests, with Tito’s Vodka sponsoring a dog park.

This year, SliceFest will have New Orleans street performers, a giant Connect Four, balloon animals and face painting, as well as a 42-foot Ferris wheel, sponsored by Cashio’s Meatball Market. And with typical Alabama summer weather expected, Aviate will have a cooling station.

SliceFest 2017 benefits the Suki Foundation for Rett Syndrome, a nonprofit created in the honor of Sarah Katherine Bateh, who was diagnosed with the debilitating neurological disorder at the age of 2.

In its six years, SliceFest has donated more than $30,000 to nonprofit organizations to bring the community together, which Slice co-founder and owner Jason Bajalieh said is part of the emphasis of the event.

SliceFest has repeatedly been a sold-out event, but tickets will be available online or at the door while they last. Day-of admission is $35, with children younger than 12 years old admitted free. For more information, a list of musical acts or to purchase tickets, go to slicefest.com.
