Vinegar, an artist-run, women-led nonprofit contemporary art organization in Birmingham, will host “Dance Yrself Clean,” an art auction, dance party and fundraiser, on Saturday, Oct. 16, from 6-11 p.m.

The auction will take place from 6-8 p.m. and the dance party with DJ from 8-11 p.m., according to a Vinegar news release.

Vinegar is located at 701 37th St. S., #12, in Forest Park near Avondale.

The event will raise money to help Vinegar support contemporary artists

“Vinegar champions artists,” said Melissa Yes, the organization’s co-director. “We put artists first in all of our programming.”

All funds raised from the auction will support Vinegar's efforts to pay artists fair wages for their labor. The auction will also pay a fee to participating artists.

“Dance Yrself Clean” is also a way to celebrate Diversity and Inclusion Month, the release states.

“The event is named after our favorite song to dance to, ‘Dance Yrself Clean’ by LCD Soundsystem,” Yes said.

Tickets are $20 each for ages 21 and up, which includes two drink tickets. Admission is $10 for children under 18. Children 12 years or under can enter for free.

For tickets, call 205-201-4489 or go to vinegarprojects.org.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, all CDC Guidelines will be observed at the event. Masks are required for attendees at all times indoors. Masking is encouraged but not required outdoors.
