Bards & Brews celebrates a year of virtual spoken word April 2

by

Now In its 11th year, Bards & Brews — a series of events hosted by Birmingham Public Library — attracts a diverse audience to enjoy both spoken word poets and locally brewed craft beers.

The organizers of Bards & Brews have not allowed the ongoing COVI-19 pandemic to stop the fun, either.

Bards & Brews will celebrate one year of virtual programming when it hosts another performance on its Facebook page on Friday, April 2, at 6 p.m.

"During these times, we want to stay connected and have an outlet to share creative expression, said poet Lee Green, a Bards & Brews board member.

The event will be hosted by Birmingham poet Brian “Voice Porter” Hawkins.

Hawkins received some national attention in August 2019 when he was featured by Starbucks on its Starbuck’s Stories website.

Poets who wish to register for the event should send their contact information to bards.brews@cobpl.org.

You can find the event on Facebook @BardsandBrews.
