The Birmingham Public Library downtown will be the site of a large summer book sale Tuesday through Thursday, Aug. 17-19, according to a BPL news release.

Featuring books, DVDs and other items, the sale will be hosted by the BPL Friends Bookstore and will take place in the Grand Reading Room of the Central Library from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. all three days.

Proceeds will benefit the library.

The bookstore is “overrun with DVDs, LPs, CDs and books for everyone,” according to a post at the Friends of the Birmingham Public Library Facebook page.

There will be an “amazing inventory” of children's books at the sale, such as easy readers, early chapter books, older elementary fiction and children's non-fiction, the post states.

The sale will also offer plenty of mystery, science fiction, fantasy, Christian fiction, cookbooks and teen fiction.

During the three-day event, the bookstore will continue its popular $12 fill-a-bag sale and add a special $5 fill-a-bag sale.

Face masks will be required of attendees of the sale to comply with the city’s face mask requirement in all city-owned facilities.
