Do Dah Day

Since its inception in 1979, Do Dah Day has been raising money for local charities including The Birmingham Zoo, The Alabama Theatre and The Avondale Library. 

The event has grown from a party and now includes a parade of animals and their human friends along Highland Avenue near Caldwell and Rhodes Parks. Vendors and live entertainment fill the afternoon as pets and owners mingle in the parks. 

According to the Do Dah Day website, more than $1.3 million has been raised for Jefferson County animal shelters since 1992.
