Fiesta will bring ‘cross-cultural’ Hispanic celebration to Linn Park

Fiesta, Alabama’s largest annual celebration of Hispanic art, music, food and dance, will be held at Linn Park on Saturday, Sept. 28, noon to 8 p.m.

The festival, in its 17th year, will feature the culture of more than 20 countries.

The event usually draws about 15,000 people and includes live music, Latin food vendors, cultural exhibits, a community village, health and wellness information and children’s activities The festival will also feature the Alabama Bicentennial Tour.

To mark the Alabama Bicentennial, festival organizers “are excited to create a cross-cultural celebration, to share our stories, traditions and cultures,” said Fiesta President Chris Miller in a news release.

“Fiesta 2019 will serve as a tribute to the diversity that characterizes our state,” Miller said

Hispanic musical artists performing at Fiesta will be announced prior to the event.

Fiesta has also awarded about $75,000 in scholarships to Hispanic students in Alabama the last 16 years, according to organizers.

Attendees are encouraged to donate to the scholarship fund when purchasing tickets.

Tickets are $10 in advance or at the gate. Children ages 12 and under are admitted free with ticketed adults.
