The Five Points Alliance will present the inaugural Five Points South Home Tour & Fall Festival on Sunday, Oct. 28, according to a news release from organizers.

The tour, highlighting seven homes, will take place in the Anderson Place Historic District from 1-4 p.m.

The festival, to take place from 1-5 p.m., will include numerous activities for children and families, including live music and food trucks, and Vulcan Park & Museum will host a Five Points South trivia contest.

A pumpkin carving contest will be held at the J. Cary Thompson house, located at 1631 15th Ave. S., from 2 to 4 p.m., with prizes provided by Five Points South merchants.

Anderson Place, one of three historic districts in the Five Points South neighborhood, is located near the commercial district and Vulcan Park, according to event co-organizer Victoria Hollis.

“This is the first year of the Fall Festival and the first of its kind in Birmingham,” Hollis told Iron City Ink recently. “We're proud to say that it also represents one of the first neighborhood events planned almost exclusively by our residents.”

The Five Points South Neighborhood Association is working with Five Points Alliance on the event, according to Hollis.

The home tour and festival “represent the unique potential of residential life in a neighborhood on the edge of downtown Birmingham,” Hollis said. “The festival is a chance for longtime Birmingham residents and those new to town to rediscover our historic homes and enjoy family-friendly fall activities right in the heart of Five Points South.”

Admission to the Fall Festival is free.
