After being open for nearly a year, MAKEbhm, a studio space described as "a space where makers can make," in Avondale, held their second open house on the evening of March 23.

The open house, which also served as a market for resident artists and local vendors, saw hundreds of people throughout the night in the space for good music, good art and good times. Drink proceeds were donated to the Junior League of Birmingham's fundraiser Community of Lights, and artworks included displays of artists' work, including pottery, woodworking, paintings, hand-bound notebooks, handmade knives and locally screen-printed posters and t-shirts.

"Really everybody who's here tonight has a space at MAKE," said Chris Izor with MAKEbhm. Guests also had the option of visiting nearby boutique Winslet & Rhys and bicycle cooperative Bici Coop, both of which were participating in the open house as well.

Izor said the open house was a chance to get everyone out into the open air and enjoy springtime, and in the future, MAKEbhm is planning on having a open house every few months to showcase something new. "There's always a time that you can have and go out and look at what people are making and buy gifts."
