Monster Jam will visit Birmingham’s BJCC on its Triple Threat Series Tour on Jan. 6-7. The event will showcase the wheel handling of eight drivers in the signature Monster Jam trucks. However, Monster Jam driver Brandon Vinson said the name of the tour series denotes the specially added element of this tour.

“We drive three different vehicles on this tour,” Vinson said. “So, I’m in the monster jam truck Grave Digger, then I have a Grave Digger ATV and a Grave Digger Speedster.”

Between backflips and burnouts, the sport draws an annual audience of about 4 million people. The trucks themselves are larger than life — in a literal sense. The lifted trucks are slightly higher than 10 feet on average. But perhaps the most notable part of the sport are the crashes.

“I always like to say we keep one foot on the gas and one in the grave,” Vinson said. “It’s definitely out of control but in a controlled way. If [the truck] rolls, wrecks or catches on fire, I’m ready for that and I’m okay with it.”

Vinson said he and other drivers are looking forward to putting on a good show and meeting their fans in Birmingham.

Gates will open at noon for the 1 p.m. shows Jan. 6-7. Each show will be preceded by a pit party at 10:30 a.m., where fans will have an opportunity to meet the Monster Jam truck drivers. Tickets start at $15. To learn more about Monster Jam, visit monsterjam.com.
