The third annual Sloss Tech conference, billed as the premiere event of its type in the Southeast, will be held at The Lyric Theatre, Friday, July 13, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Sloss Tech, held in conjunction with Sloss Music & Arts Festival, is meant to raise awareness of Birmingham’s tech scene and serve as a place for entrepreneurs to network and share ideas, according to the event website.

Bozoma Saint John, a celebrated marketing guru and Endeavor’s chief brand officer, will serve as keynote speaker.

A native of Ghana and a graduate of Wesleyan University, Saint John rose quickly as a corporate executive at such Fortune 500 companies as PepsiCo, where she served as head of music and entertainment marketing.

Prior to taking her position at Endeavor in late June, Saint John served as Uber’s chief brand officer.

She was hired by Uber in June 2017 to help to repair the reputation of the ride-sharing company, which has been plagued by scandal in recent years, including allegations of sexual harassment.

The other Sloss Tech speakers are as follows:

-- Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin;

-- Charles Berg, Google’s senior interaction designer and Google Home Ux Design Lead;

-- Chris Moody, a Auburn graduate, partner at Boulder, Colo-based venture capital firm Foundry Group and former CEO Of Twitter's Gnip;

-- and Payne Lindsey,  an Atlanta-based director, documentary filmmaker and the co-creator and host of the podcast “Up and Vanished.”

Sloss Tech is presented by TechBirmingham and Telegraph Creative.

The conference also serves as the climax of Birmingham Innovation Week, a series of events meant to highlight innovation in Birmingham.

Tickets are $199. Blocks of 10 tickets are also available. For details, go to sloss.tech or to Facebook @SlossTechAL.
