Friday, Nov. 11, is Veteran’s Day, a national holiday and a chance to honor the sacrifices of the men and women who have served our nation in the military.

The following is a run-down of most city, country and federal facilities in Birmingham and whether they are closed tomorrow.

CITY

Birmingham City Hall and Birmingham City Schools will be closed, and there will also be no garbage pick-up on Friday.

The Birmingham Public Library, including the central library downtown and all branches, will be closed.

However, some city facilities will be open.

The Birmingham Zoo will be open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., and will offer free admission to all veterans and active duty military personnel on Veteran’s Day, as well as on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 12 and 13. For more information, call 879-0409 or go to birminghamzoo.com.

COUNTY

STATE

Veteran’s Day is a holiday for all state employees, meaning that the state driver’s license office on 908 Bankhead Highway West will be closed.
