Jones Valley Teaching Farm will host the Community, Food & You camp July 18-29.

In All Things Food, campers in grades 6-8 will experience food from growing it to cooking it to sharing it with others In this two-week camp. They will explore the relationship between food and community while learning valuable gardening and culinary skills from local growers, chefs, and business owners. Camp will culminate with a Community Dinner planned by the campers and featuring signature dishes they have created, tested, and perfected.

“Camp Grow engages students with the natural world, food, and farming, exploring how it all connects and impacts their lives and communities," said Amanda Storey, Executive Director of Jones Valley Teaching Farm. "Students find joy in hands-on learning and leave passionate about growing and cooking their own food and empowered with life-long skills. Camp Grow bonds students to each other and the community through their shared experiences centered around food.

Instructors assist campers with creating seasonal dishes, spending time outside, and getting to know new students.

"Our campers love hanging out with friends while learning, the group activities, and having a role in creating their own dishes–cooking and eating them," Storey said.

Camp Grow sessions are available for elementary and middle school students and offer lots of different experiences for a variety of interests. Scholarships are available.
