Artists to ‘transport audience’ with Lynch film music at Saturn

Legendary filmmaker David Lynch is back in the spotlight after the Showtime premiere of his “Twin Peaks” sequel.

And Lynch isn’t just a great visual artist, according to Atlanta musician Jeffrey Butzer.

“His films are very musical,” said Butzer, who calls himself a “massive” Lynch fan.

That inspired Butzer to create his own tribute to the filmmaker, “Club Silencio: Music from the Films of David Lynch.”

Butzer, along with fellow Atlanta musician and sometimes collaborator T.T. Mahony, will present Club Silencio at Saturn in Avondale on July 8 at 9 p.m.

Butzer, who plays numerous instruments, including guitar, admits he created the show like a fan. “I’m putting on the show I want to see,” he said.

Butzer and three members of his band, The Bicycle Eaters, will appear with Mahony on piano and keyboards, Ben Davis on saxophone and Renee Nelson, a classically trained singer who has also worked with Florence and the Machine and The Swans, on vocals.

Attendees will hear such tunes as “In Dreams” and “Crying,” by Roy Orbison; “Wicked Game,” by Chris Isaak; and the “Twin Peaks” theme, “Falling.”

“We’re definitely hitting the high points,” Mahony said. “These are classic songs.”
