On March 31, locals will have the chance at the 2nd Annual Spring Fest to spend the day previewing some of Birmingham’s up-and-coming visual artists, musicians and bands.

“The goal is to build a bigger understanding for  the immense amount of art coming out of Birmingham and how it needs to be supported,” Artist Coordinator Daniel Reagan said.

Spring Fest 2018, he said, will be an activity-filled day where families and friends can spend noon to midnight listening to bands on four different stages, eating and drinking local food and beer from food trucks and breweries, as well as checking out over 40 artists’ work and music.

The fest will be located for a second year at what he and many artists have dubbed the “art park,” at 225 47th Street N., an industrial event space on the edge of Avondale and Woodlawn.

“This is going to be an opportunity for these artists to show off what they’re working on for this year,” Reagan said.

The event is hosted by the Magic City Art Campaign, a collection of artists and a rotating staff of people trying to build a name for members of Birmingham’s art community.

Last year, over 350 people came to the event, Reagan said.

Tickets are $10 and can be bought from any of the artists or performers, in addition to local record stores. They can also be purchased on the Facebook event on The Magic City of Art Campaign Facebook page @artchoviaUSA.
