BJCTA to host public meetings about new Bus Rapid Transit

Birmingham’s planned Bus Rapid Transit system (BRT) will be “a transformative project” for the city, said Mayor Randall Woodfin at the regular meeting of the Birmingham City Council for Tuesday, Aug. 20.

Area residents can learn more about the BRT — to be called the  Birmingham Xpress — and give their feedback at a series of public involvement meetings this week, Woodfin said.

The BJCTA also hosted a meeting on Tuesday morning, as well as meetings in October and February.

The City Council voted to approve about $42 million in funding for the BRT line from Woodlawn to Five Points West in November 2017.
