Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the organizers of Magic City Art Connection (MCAC) and Corks & Chefs: A Taste of Birmingham announced in mid-March they would cancel those popular events, previously scheduled to be held at Linn Park downtown this weekend, April 24-26.

This would have been the 37th annual edition of MCAC.

But all is not lost for art lovers in the Birmingham area.

This past week, organizers announced they had launched Magic City Art Connection VIRTUAL, a weeklong, online festival art marketplace featuring many of the juried artists from MCAC 2020 and the work they’ve created in their studios for the spring festival.

MCAC Virtual kicked off Friday, April 24 and ends on Sunday, May 3.

To visit the virtual festival site and browse artist online exhibitions and storefronts, go to magiccityart.com or click here.

MCAC Virtual allows MCAC to continue its mission of connecting visual artists with local and regional collectors.

In addition, MCAC is offering a second COVID-19 Cancellation Reset Initiative at its 15th annual Moss Rock Festival at The Preserve in Hoover on November 7-8.

Tentatively called Moss Magic, the hybrid festival will feature an infusion of MCAC 2020 artists.

It will also include a selection of other programming previously scheduled for MCAC in Linn Park, such as installations, dance performances and Imagination Festival kids workshops.

More details will be released later this summer, according to a news release from organizers.
