Woodfin makes two appointments to Birmingham Airport Authority board
Birmingham Mayor Randall L. Woodfin announced two appointments to the Birmingham Airport Authority Board of Directors on July 28, according to a city news release. They are Robert Earl Kelly and Ashby Pate.
Woodfin is reappointing Kelly — already a member of the board — to a second six-year term effective July 30, 2020.
Pate’s six-year term also begins July 30, 2020. He replaces Edgar Marx, whose term expires July 29.
The Birmingham City Council must approve these and other appointments to the seven-member board.
Kelly founded Kelly Road Builders in 1999 and also founded Kelly Natural Gas Pipeline, according to the release.
Pate is a partner with the law firm of Lightfoot, Franklin & White LLC and also served as a clerk for U.S. District Judge U.W. Clemon.
“The Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport is a vital part of the region’s economic competitiveness,” Woodfin said in a statement. “We are very fortunate to have these committed professionals provide this public service.”
