It’s been 18 months since Alabama Waldorf School moved to a renovated campus on Crestwood Boulevard, after 17 years in the Comer School building.

And the school has made significant improvements to the 4-acre facility, marketing director Cassia Kesler said.

AWS has renovated its playgrounds, planted an organic garden and improved its auditorium. In April, the school will begin hosting public events in the auditorium, now called Community Hall.

With the Alabama Dance Council, AWS will host "Stories in Motion: A Community Gathering and Celebration,” on Sunday, April 8, from 2-4 p.m.

“Stories in Motion” is a “community multicultural storytelling event,” Kesler said.

Ten dancers from Alabama and other states will help “tell stories about culture through movement and dance,” she said.

One of those dancers, Pia Sen, is currently preparing the school’s fifth- and sixth-graders to take part in an Indian dance performance with the Notinee Dance Troupe in September, according to Kesler.

AWS will also host a community sketch drawing night in April, with the date and time to be announced.

AWS offers grades 1-8 plus nurseryand kindergarten. For information, including event details, call 592-0541 or go to alabamawaldorf.org.
