An innovative group of performers from Buenos Aires, Argentina, that blends music and theatre in a unique way is set to appear this weekend at The Jaybird community arts space in Crestwood.

Engine -- a trio of actor-musicians with three voices, two guitars and a harmonica -- will appear Saturday, March 17, from 8-10 p.m., according to a news release from the event organizer, Lloyd Bricken.

Doors will open at 7 p.m., and admission is $10.

Engine blends rock, blues, funk and Latin rhythms and sings in Spanish, English, French and Italian.

The performers mix in what the release calls “simple yet powerful theatrical eruptions” and also dance and song both on stage and in the audience, creating an “immersive experience,” the release states.

Two of the members, Alejandro Tomás Rodriguez of Argentina and Robin Gentien of France, have been touring the world for over five years.

The third current member, French harmonica player and singer Pierre Lauth-Karson, has become part of the group since playing on the group’s first EP, “Un día más sobre la Tierra,” which was released in 2016.

Rodriguez and Bricken will also conduct a performance workshop for actors, singers, dancers musicians and others -- “Coming Alive Through Song: Uncovering the Roots of Performance” -- at the Odd Fellows Studios in Avondale on Friday, March 16, and Saturday, March 17.

The cost is $150, with student discounts available. For information and registration contact lloydbricken@gmail.com.

The Jaybird is located at 4911 Fifth Ave. South.  For more information, go to Facebook @JaybirdAlabama.
