Tracey Watkins and her daughters, Anna Watkins and Mary Watkins Ballard, moved their Village Bridal boutique from Homewood to Five Points South in December.

The historic neighborhood — with its artsy, bohemian flair — has been a perfect location, according to Tracey Watkins.

“We sell a more vintage, European look, so [Five Points South] blends perfectly with our style,” she said.

Village Bridal is located in The La Salle, a 1927-vintage apartment building on 11th Avenue South near Highlands Bar & Grill.

“We love the architecture,” she said. “Lots of our dresses have an art-deco vibe, so the 1920s-something style of the building fits us,” she said.

Village Bridal opened in 2015 next to Watkins Cleaners in Homewood, which is operated by Tracey Watkins’ husband, John.

The family loves Homewood, but the daughters wanted to make the Birmingham move, their mother said. “They’re in their 20s and love being in the city,” she said.

Five Points South, with “a few anchor tenants” and some additional parking, could become “a great retail area,” Tracey Watkins said.

The shop is open by appointment only. For details, go to shopvillagebridal.com.
