Vulcan Park and Museum presents its annual Vulcan AfterTunes concert series — featuring buzz-worthy local and regional musicians — beginning Sept. 23 and continuing in October.

AfterTunes is in its 14th year, and Vulcan spokesperson LaShana Sorrell said the park has regularly heard from attendees that “there’s no better place to relax and enjoy the beauty of an autumn afternoon — the great music in a casual, family-friendly atmosphere with wonderful breezes and stunning views of the city.”

The line-up features both up-and-coming and established musicians.

Gates open at 1 p.m. Opening acts begin at 3 p.m. Bands on tap for October:

Oct. 7: Iron Horse is a high-energy bluegrass band from Killen. Birmingham’s Will Stewart, one of Rolling Stone’s “10 Country Artists You Need to Know,” will open.

Oct. 21: Great Peacock is a Nashville band blending rock, folk and Americana. Birmingham singer-songwriter Maddie Medley will open.

Tickets range from $5-$25. Seating is first-come, first-served. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets. Beer, wine and food will be on sale.
