Couple materializes dream in opening Dreamers Supply Co.

Birmingham’s growing roster of small, unique retail shops has another entry: Dreamers Supply Co., which opened in Forest Park Village in September.

Owned by married couple Alan and Kaitlin Slattery, the store offers hand-crafted accessories, housewares, jewelry and gift items, as well as some books, magazines and food items.

“We love supporting other small businesses and introducing Birmingham to entirely new products,” Kaitlin Slattery said.

The opening of Dreamers Supply Co. realized the couple’s own dream after four years of planning and sourcing, according to Kaitlin Slattery.

“We both have so many dreams and ideas,” she said. “We’re so excited to have an outlet in which to try them out and share them.” 

The Slatterys, who live in Woodlawn, graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design in 2016. Kaitlin Slattery studied illustration and Alan Slattery studied accessory design. The shop carries some of their own creations, including leather handbags, illustrations and greeting cards.

The couple also plan to stock handmade toys, clothing and illustrated books for kids. By spring 2019, the store will offer Alan Slattery’s leather sandals and espadrilles and his full line of shoes for men and women will be available by next fall, according to Kaitlin Slattery.
