Billy Reid promises to bring Southern ‘soul and flavor’ to Pepper Place

Acclaimed fashion designer Billy Reid, based in Florence, was scheduled to open his first Birmingham retail location at Pepper Place in October. He was also scheduled to host a grand opening there on Oct. 24.

Located at 2807 Second Ave. S., the store is Reid’s 13th in the United States. Measuring 2,600 square feet, the facility will soon have a dedicated restaurant, according to a news release from Reid.

The store will be “a lifestyle extension” of the designer’s brand, “bringing the soul and flavor of the South to life through fashion, music, food and art,” Reid said. He compared the vibe of the store to the annual Shindig festival he sponsors annually in The Shoals.

The restaurant at the facility will play a part in numerous in-store events, including the Supper Series events, where award-winning chefs will prepare meals for Reid’s friends and VIP customers. The new store will also regularly feature visual art and music.

Reid makes luxury clothing and accessories for men and women and has won multiple Council of Fashion Designers of America awards.

Reid is pleased to be located at Pepper Place, according to the release. “The space itself radiates the gritty, industrial history of the city,” he said.
