Construction continues on new complex

Lakeview continues to grow with new bars, restaurants and residential units.

But the biggest single project so far is The Metropolitan, a four-story, 262-unit upscale apartment complex under construction at Seventh Avenue and 29th Street South.

The Metropolitan, with one-, two- and three-bedroom units, is expected to open in early 2018, according to Amy Cohen, director of marketing for the project’s developers, the Bomasada Group in Houston.

When fully occupied, the complex should help further boost pedestrian traffic in an already bustling entertainment district.

And the developers are happy to be in the area, according to Cohen.

Lakeview is a “thriving market” and “a prime location that puts you in the heart of Birmingham,” she said.

The units, ranging in price from $1,000-$3,000, boast such features as 15-foot ceilings, private balconies, security systems and washers and dryers.

The complex will also include several community spaces, including a fitness center, cyber café, rooftop lounge and The Hangout, a gathering space with TVs and pool tables.

The developers have opened a pre-leasing office in the 2700 block of Seventh Avenue near the complex.
