World Games 2022 announces more venues

The World Games 2022 (TWG2022)  — an Olympic-style sports event to be in Birmingham from July 7-17, 2022 — recently announced three more competition venues: Sloss Furnaces, Birmingham-Southern College and Avondale Park

“All of our venues offer athletes and fans a unique sporting experience they can’t get anywhere else,” World Games 2022 CEO Nick Sellers said in a news release.

At Sloss Furnaces, athletes will compete in sport climbing, breaking, parkour and beach handball.

Birmingham-Southern College will use Goldfarb Field and Bill Battle Coliseum host such competitions as orienteering, karate, wushu and ju-jitsu.

Avondale Park will be the site of target archery and field archery competitions.

Other area venues, which were announced previously, include Legion Field, Boutwell Auditorium, Birmingham Crossplex, Bill Harris Arena and Protective Stadium.

TWG2022 also announced that Brasfield & Gorrie in Birmingham will be the event’s official construction partner and that HPM, a construction management company in Homewood, will serve as the official program management partner.
