Back Forty Beer Company will host Boos and Brews, a pet costume contest and benefit event for Studio By The Tracks and Mitchell's Place, Inc., on October 23rd from 5:30-7:30pm.
Guests are encouraged to dress their pets up in their finest, and come out to enjoy live music from Jason Grubbs all while supporting Studio By The Tracks and Mitchell's Place, two organizations that work to improve quality of life for individuals with autism spectrum disorders and other behavioral disorders.
An entry fee of $15 includes a 16oz Back Forty beer and entry into the pet costume contest, which will commence at 6:30pm sharp. The grand prize winner of this year's pet costume contest will receive a gift certificate from Dog Days of Birmingham for doggy day care, and 2nd and 3rd place will receive doggy treats from Gaines Family Farmstead.
Studio By The Tracks is a nonprofit studio and gallery for adult artists with autism spectrum disorders. They provide a social network and career path that enriches their artists' lives and betters our community. The studio provides all services and materials to artists free of charge, and the artists receive 60% of any sale of their art works. SBTT also serves children from Glenwood, Inc. with Severe Emotional Disturbances with weekly art curriculum.
Mitchell's Place, Inc. specializes in improving the lives of children affected by autism and other developmental disabilities. They use quality diagnostic, educational and therapeutic services provided by highly skilled therapy teams to unlock each child’s potential. These teams work to re-mediate social, communicative, adaptive and academic functioning while simultaneously reducing and decelerating maladaptive behavior.
