Dia de los Muertos
to
Pepper Place 2829 2nd Ave S, Birmingham, Alabama
This fall Bare Hands, Inc. (501C3) will be celebrating our city’s 18th annual Dia de los Muertos (DDLM) celebration at Pepper Place. Traditionally a very large gathering with music, food vendors and arts, the event this year has been altered to accommodate the many needs of our community without compromising the importance of the event. We will be honoring the heart of our festival with a Large Altar/Art installation that will offer a chance to come together and grieve the many losses our community has experienced, not only from the pandemic, but from the social injustices that have stolen too many lives.
Our featured Altar exhibit will be open to the public Sunday, November 1 through Saturday, November 7 from 5 pm - 9 pm daily . We plan to offer the event free to the public, thanks to the support of our sponsors and the community.
Feature Altars, Public Altar Memorial Wall, the Memorial Roll Call and many other art installation will be a part of the event, but this year we will not be encouraging large gatherings at the site, but rather offer this open environment for people to wander through the site at a convenient time to pay their respects. All recommended and required social distancing guidelines will be honored at this year’s event.
