The Birmingham Park & Recreation Board will present its 19th annual Family Fishing Rodeo at East Lake Park on Sat., Oct. 15, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
About 2,000 people are expected in what is billed as the “largest family fishing event in the state,” Park Board spokesperson Stanley Robinson said Tuesday.
Robinson told the members of the Birmingham City Council that about 2,700 pounds of catfish will be released into the lake.
“Each year, the event gets better and better,” Robinson said.
Numerous local organizations will be on hand with information booths, including the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, the Birmingham Public Library, Fresh Air Family and Birmingham Audubon Society, according to Robinson.
The event will also feature prizes and paddle-boat demonstrations.
