A long-time fixture in local media is moving from Hoover to downtown Birmingham. Hoffman Media recently broke ground on “The Hoffice” in Birmingham’s Loft District.
“Our move to the thriving heartbeat of downtown Birmingham coincides with the next phase of growth for our company,” says Hoffman Media President and Chief Creative Officer Brian Hart Hoffman. “We’re excited to join culinary and creative businesses in the heart of the city we are proud to call home.”
Hoffman publishes 11 food and lifestyle magazines, including “Southern Home” and "Taste of the South.”
The company broke ground on The Hoffice on Second — the facility’s official name — in a ceremony Feb. 16.
The groundbreaking was more symbolic than usual, with officials turning sand from the Gulf Coast rather than actual Birmingham dirt. That’s because the new office will actually take over a soon-to-be fully renovated office building at 2323 Second Ave. North.
The future Hoffice was previously home to the Waldrep, Stewart and Kendrick law firm, which moved to Homewood.
The two-story Hoffice will measure about 21,000 square feet and include corporate offices, test kitchens and video and photography studios.
Construction firm Robins & Morton and Williams Blackstock Architects are working with Hoffman Media on the renovation.
