The meeting is to be hosted by the Social Justice Committee that is part of Mayor Randall Woodfin’s transition team, according to a news release from team member Richard Rice.
Citizen input is to be sought by subcommittees in the following five subject areas, according to the announcement:
-- Health disparities;
-- Human & civil rights;
-- Poverty reduction;
-- Environmental justice & sustainability;
-- Art education & cultural exposure.
After his election in an October run-off, Woodfin announced the creation of several citizen committees.
Rice serves as co-chair of the Social Justice Committee with physician and educator Dr. Nancy Dunlap. He is a public interest attorney and community organizer based in Birmingham, according to his bio at the mayor’s website.
A complete list of the committees and their co-chairs is found at Woodfin’s web site.
