On September 8, 2020, the Birmingham City Council approved a zoning change for a proposed development at the old Trinity Medical Center site in Crestwood. .
The Birmingham City Council, at its regular meeting for Tuesday, Sept. 8, voted to approve a zoning change and allow a large new development to proceed in Crestwood.
Members approved a change in zoning for the old Trinity Medical Center property at 800 Montclair Road from B-6 (Health & Institutional District) to a mix of C-2 (General Commercial District) and MU-H (Mixed-Use High District). Both new zonings have some Q conditions.
The owner and developer of the property, Birmingham Metro LLC, plans to build a multi-family apartment complex and a mixed-use development. The item was submitted by City Council President Parker, who serves as chairman of the Planning and Zoning Committee.
The zoning change was recommended by the Planning and Zoning Committee and the city’s Zoning Advisory Committee.
The 75-acre development will include a corporate headquarters, residences and medical facilities, as well as “community-oriented” retail establishments and eateries, according to a news release from the developers in March.
