Staff members enjoy the 20th anniversary celebration at Midtown Pediatrics, a clinic operated by Children’s of Alabama hospital.
Midtown Pediatrics — owned by Children’s of Alabama and located at 1400 Fourth Ave. S. — hosted its 20th anniversary celebration July 26 at the clinic.
The anniversary is especially meaningful to clinic founder Dr. Anne Stafford.
“It’s exciting that our dream for a clinic that would provide primary care for all children, regardless of insurance status, continues to grow and thrive,” she said.
About 45 people attended, including current staff and physicians, several retired employees and Children’s of Alabama senior leadership, according to Katie Garfinkle, the hospital’s coordinator of media and branding.
“Everyone enjoyed catching up and seeing our newly expanded office,” Garfinkle said.
The facility opened in 1996 as UAB Faculty Pediatrics through a grant to fund a new clinic model, one that would provide better, more comprehensive care for children of low-income families, including Medicaid patients.
When UAB’s funding expired in 1999, Children’s of Alabama acquired and renamed the facility.
