A perfect summer's eve
A view of Engel Plaza and Spencer Honors House at UAB during LOCAL 2018.
The Alys Stephens Performing Arts Center at UAB presented LOCAL 2018, its annual celebration of all things local, including food, vendors and pop music, on the evening of Saturday, June 16.
About 25 vendors, selling goods such as art, decor and clothing, as well as specialty food items, were set up in front of Spencers Honors House.
There were also several food trucks on site, some parked on 10th Avenue South.
A kids zone, which included face painting, a balloon artist and art activities, was set up on the lawn adjacent to Spencers Honors House.
Several musical acts performed on the main stage on Engel Plaza at the ASC.
Those acts begin with vocalist and keyboard player Chelsey Whild, who appeared with her band.
Kate and the Howler, Banditos and headliner Love Moor were also scheduled to play.
Some of the several hundred attendees enjoyed the music from temporary seating on Engel Plaza, while some spread out blankets or set up lawn chairs on the grassy hillside leading up to 10th Avenue South.
This was the fifth year for the event.
