On the third Saturday of June and July, Magic City T Shirt and Urban Vintage Clothing is partnering with Good People Brewing Company to bring a free, local artist market to the brewery.
The market will include 20 Birmingham-based artists and vendors, Magic City T Shirt Director Percy Jones said, from 3-9 p.m., which gives it “a bit of night market feel,” Jones said. Market days include May 19, June 16 and July 21, which are all Baron Baseball game days.
Magic City T Shirt is a community-based not-for-profit organization, Jones said, that recently opened a pop-up store with Urban Vintage Clothing in Railroad Park.
Originally an online store, Magic City T Shirt sells Magic City-themed paraphernalia such as T-shirts, sweatshirts, tank tops, coffee cups, beer glasses and other trinkets like keychains and magnets. Proceeds from the company benefit free basketball camps at local middle schools such as Center Street and Daniel Payne schools.
Jones said their website, magiccitytshirts.com, in addition to the events like the upcoming marketplace, are ways to get the word out about how their organization is helping students in the community.
“[The markets] are for a good cause, it supports the community-based efforts we are doing,” Jones said. “It is also an opportunity to showcase the talents that are local in Birmingham.”
