More than 1,000 area residents marched and gathered at Railroad Park on Saturday for Birmingham's March for Our Lives.
The march and rally, which were in conjunction with the March for Our Lives event in Washington, D.C., called for gun reform and a need to keep children safe in schools. Attendees carried signs bearing the names of school shooting victims, statistics on gun ownership and calls to action.
Following the conclusion of the event, March for Our Lives Birmingham posted to Twitter, "THANK YOU. All of you. We are so touched by the amount of support you all have shown us. It was touching to see so many different people come together. Today we marched, in November we vote. Change is coming."
